Vranjak Katun
The best known Bjelasica katun is situated along the very border of the Biogradska Gora National Park, some 1,800 meters above sea level. There are countless possibilities for hiking over the peaks and slopes of Bjelasica here, which offer some breathtaking views on surrounding mountains: Komovi, Prokletije, Maganik and Sinjajevina.
You can enjoy in homemade delicacies in the katun, sleep in tiny huts and experience the early morning on Bjelasica. During the summer, you can meet tourist, nature lovers, from around the globe in the katun Vranjak. There is also a household here where you can rent horses and an excellent guide.
Slađevac Katun
This katun is made of six cabins. During the summer, people here are actively engaged in husbandry. It is situated some three kilometers away from the katun Vranjak, towards the Goleš katun, within a dale on the south east side of the Ogorela Glava peak. Katun Potoci is also close by.
Dolovi Lalevića
It is situated on a small plateau between two hills (1,685 m.a.s.l.). This site is just above the forest line, where pastures prevail. A macadam road passes through Dolovi Lalevića, several families offer their products (milk, cheese, clotted cream, meat) to the tourist in the katun.
An interesting fact for this katun is that it is one of the rare sites where Lakušić carnation can be found – an endemic species which doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world. There is a shelter, where you can relax and rest a bit, built in the katun.
Goleš Katun
It is situated at the very rim of the Biogradska Gora National Park. It is 12 km away from Trebaljevo village, and 18 km from the center of Kolašin. Eco accommodation Goleš has 10 units (30 beds), a kitchen and a living room. Beside enjoying the unspoilt nature and stunning view over the mountain peaks, the guests can also enjoy in the traditionally prepared food in the katun. You’ll find kačamak, cicvara, leafy cheese here, but it is the food prepared from meat that is uniquely delicious and that is due to the way they feed the animals in the katun. Goleš is also a place where homemade juices from blueberries, raspberries and other forest fruits are made. There are marked trails that lead from the katun towards Biogradsko lake, Vranjak katun and Crna Glava and several viewpoints too, which offer a fantastic view to the lake and the surrounding rainforest.
Potoci Katun
Potoci katun is situated a couple of kilometers away from the Ski Resort Kolašin 1450/1600 and some 10 km away from the Biogradska Gora National Park. The immediate surrounding area is abundant in lakes, peaks, hiking trails and abysses. There are several families here, who are traditionally into husbandry, offering touristic services, and so, food and accommodation are available at this katun.
Laništa Katun
Bogavac household is situated only three kilometers away from the Biogradska Gora National Park. The basic activities of Bogavac family are husbandry and agriculture. Before these, they grew vegetables and fruit for themselves and their guests, who can take part in those activities. Bogavac family lives in the village Bjelojevići, but during the summer they move to the katun Laništa with their cattle. They have been working in the rural tourism for the last couple of years, their offer includes accommodation and homemade food.
Pešića rupa
Pešića rupa is a katun closest to the Pešića lake, hence the name, and this is the katun used only by Pešić families. There are several families here who engage in husbandry, and only two in rural tourism. One of the households is called Kolijevka (cradle,) since that is the name of the site where the family is situated.
The second Pešić family is located in Lukovišta, a few hundreds of meters away from Kolijevka. This is a traditional livestock household, with conventional huts, and the host is one of few remaining people on Bjelasica who can play the flute – a gift all the mountain shepherds used to have, and the sound of the flute was a trademark of katuns.
Katuns on Reljina
When you take off from Suvodo towards Bjelasička Kosa, which you can use as a starting point for further research of Bjelasica, you will pass by several live katuns – Livadice, Barice, Laz, Reljina. Deverse touristic trails pass by this area – hiking and biking ones, and this is also the zone of the Biogradska Gora National Park.
Only one household is registered for engaging in rural tourism, for now – Katun Raković. This family is primarily into fruit growing, i.e. plum growing. They own an orchard in Lužac, a village close to Berane, and produce jam and plum brandy, for their needs, as well as for their guests, but they sell it, too. Also, they have a garden where they grow different types of vegetables. During summer months, they collect tea herbs, mushrooms and blueberries.
Suvodo Katun
Šekularac family lives in Suvodo katun in the period from May till October. It is situated at the very border of Biogradska Gora National Park. Three lakes, Šiško, Ursulovačko and Pešića, are set close to their farm. Their basic activity is husbandry, they also have a garden, as well as bees. They move to the katun on May 15 and stay there till October 15.
Senić Katun
Senić household is situated close to the Pešića Lake. They have got a garden, where they grow vegetables for the family and their guests. They have also got an orchard and they make juices, jams and preserves. They are engaged in agriculture and husbandry; you can always glimpse their goats and pigs in the katun.
Šiška Katun
Dubak household is situated within the National Park Biogradska Gora, on Šiška katun, several minutes of walk from two beautiful lakes, the large Šiško Lake and Ševarinsko.
A large number of national and local mountain and biking trails pass next to Dubak log cabins. A camp is set here, as well as shelter for passers-by, and whoever wants to take a break at this spot, will be able to get to know the katun way of life. Also, this is the place where you can rent camping equipment.
Gojnovac Katun
Gojnovac katun is one of the katuns used by families Božović from Glavaca village. During the summer, when the days are sunny, they often go to the village to finish mowing and other farm works. Winters are long here, so it is requisite to supply enough hay to feed many cattle throughout the winter. And, while some are responsible for the village works, some of the family members must stay at the katun to look after the cattle. The situation is the same with Božović family, whose hut is set on an attractive plateau in Gojnovac katun. A camp is situated here, as well as a shelter for tourists, so whoever wants to take a break, can enjoy the homemade food and spend the night here. You can also rent camping equipment from them.
Kurikućki katun (Little Ursulovac)
This is, in the true sense of the word, a katun in the wilderness and the only one leading from Desin Do to Ursulovačko lake. The katun, with its shelter for tourists, gives you a chance to break off on your way towards the lake, freshen up and try some of the traditional products, and if you are a fan of observing twinkling stars, you can stay the night in the camp. You can rent complete camping equipment from the family Šćekić, who stays in the katun from June to August.
Torine Katun
Katun Torine is situated on the road which leads from Bijelo Polje villages, Prijelozi and Femića Krš towards Bjelasica. It can also be reached from the other side of Bjelasica, which belongs to Berane municipality, but this road is in rough condition. Opulent meadows of this katun are used for cattle grazing by the family Babić, who engage in husbandry. You can take a rest here, freshen up and it also offer the services of camping and renting camping equipment.
Vragodo Katun
There are many legends of this katun. Judging by its name, one would expect evil creatures to welcome us in this devil’s valley. But, when you visit this katun, you will see it for yourself that it shouldn’t be judged by its name, because you can only take away positive experiences from this stunning plateau. Kind hosts will welcome you, you will try various traditional delicacies, you will discover what it’s like to live in the katun. While wandering through Bjelasica katuns, you can stop here, freshen up, but also spend the night in a tent within an enclosed camp, situated close to the katun cabins.
